VA Fast Loans Headed to Washington D.C. to Advocate for Veteran Homeownership

From the Marine Corps to Capitol Hill

This week I’m traveling to Washington D.C. for the 2026 NAHREP Homeownership & Housing Policy Conference, where real estate leaders, lenders, policymakers, and housing advocates gather to discuss the future of homeownership in America.

As a Marine Corps veteran, real estate professional, and VA loan specialist, this trip means a lot to me personally.

Homeownership is one of the most powerful tools for building financial stability and generational wealth, yet too many veterans and working families still face barriers to buying a home.

Events like this are where those conversations happen — not just in classrooms or panels, but directly with policymakers and lawmakers in Washington.

What Happens at the Housing Policy Conference

The NAHREP Homeownership & Housing Policy Conference brings together industry leaders, government officials, and housing advocates to discuss the policies shaping the housing market and access to credit.

The conference includes:

  • Policy briefings on housing affordability
  • Conversations with national housing leaders
  • Discussions on mortgage lending and credit access
  • Networking with top real estate professionals across the country

But the most impactful part happens after the conference sessions.

Taking the Conversation to Capitol Hill

One of the most important parts of this event is when professionals meet with members of Congress and policymakers on Capitol Hill to discuss housing issues affecting communities across the country.

The goal is simple:

Make sure the voices of homeowners, veterans, and working families are heard.

Organizations like NAHREP advocate for policies focused on:

  • Increasing housing affordability
  • Expanding access to credit
  • Improving industry best practices
  • Addressing economic issues that impact homeownership opportunities

These discussions help shape legislation that affects:

  • Mortgage lending
  • Housing inventory
  • First-time buyer programs
  • Financial education and credit access

Why Hispanic Homeownership Matters

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) represents tens of thousands of real estate professionals nationwide working to expand sustainable Hispanic homeownership.

Latino homeownership has been one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. housing market, making these conversations even more important for the future of housing in America.

For me, this mission is deeply personal.

As a Hispanic real estate professional and veteran, I believe strongly in helping families build wealth through homeownership.

Advocating for Veterans and First-Time Buyers

While this conference focuses heavily on Hispanic homeownership, many of the conversations overlap with the challenges veterans face when trying to buy a home.

Despite the benefits of the VA home loan program, many veterans still don’t realize they can:

  • Buy a home with zero down payment
  • Avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI)
  • Use their VA loan multiple times
  • Use rental income to qualify

Part of my mission is making sure veterans understand the benefits they’ve earned through their service.

Representing NAHREP Orange County

I’m proud to represent NAHREP Orange County as a Board of Directors member and Event Director, bringing the perspective of our local community to the national stage.

Housing policy decisions made in Washington impact every market across the country — including right here in California.

Being part of these conversations ensures that the needs of our communities are represented.

Real Change Starts with Access, Education, and Opportunity

Real change doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens when people show up, speak up, and advocate for policies that expand opportunity.

That’s why I’m honored to be part of this conversation in Washington D.C.

Because when we improve access to homeownership, we help families build wealth, stability, and a stronger future.
